Bought the pack, could we get in trouble for using the ones that are more heavily inspired by things like Kpop Demon Hunters or BOTW or is it safe?

For the very small handful that are inspired by existing brands / products, I would probably avoid using them for anything commercial just to be safe?

That said, they are distinct, different fonts built by us from the ground up. Technically there should be no problem, but you know how these things go.

How many fonts are inspired by other brands? And how can I tell? I would like to avoid using them unknowingly.

Hello! I just purchased and installed these fonts on Kenney's recommendation and discount. Thank you for sharing such a wild number of fonts at such a good price! Do you have any recommendations for a good way to preview the fonts? Dafont and fontspace are good, but I'm wondering if there are ways to filter by style too, or just view them all on one long page.

Thanks for grabbing the pack! The pack itself is separated by style, although you would then have to double-click fonts to get a proper look at them. We haven't come up with a better way of sorting or previewing them yet, sorry - after a quick search we found this which might be helpful? FontBase — a Free, Beautiful, and Fast Font Manager

I do appreciate that the pack is sorted a bit already, and thanks for the suggestion!

(+2)

Great job ! I heard about this from Kenney, thank you for the discount

(+2)

That's great! We're glad to be working with Kenney on bringing this to more people :)

I have some questions:

How do you verify someone has bought the license? Do you ask them like in an audit?

Can I buy this pack, but then download them from your DaFont profile and use in commercial use (if present in this pack)?

For future fonts, does the license apply to them too?

(+1)

1. If we needed to check if someone has a license, in the first instance we would just ask nicely to see some proof or something. Often we don't really need to, though. Either we already have an inkling who has it (because this is a very close-knit community) or sometimes people just come and tell us when they're using our stuff anyway! (we love to see our fonts being used)

2. Yes you can. We periodically add all of our new fonts to the pack (the last time we did so was September 4th) so even if you find a newer font on dafont or fontspace, it just means we haven't gotten around to putting it in the pack yet and you can just go ahead and use it.

3. Yes, see above. (Unless we release a font and explicitly state that's it's not for commercial use or something. But this literally only applies to like 3 fonts we've released in the last 10 years,)

Thank you for responding. I've bought even before you responded because the deal is just too good. Great work

(+2)

This is a wonderful package. I don't want to make you all angry by doing something wrong! Above it says "Every commercial font we've ever made until now" but I am seeing fonts on fontspace that were not in my downloaded content (for instance, Spiced Rum Supernova). Am I correct to assume that if it isn't in the pack, it was not included? Thank you for this clarification, nothing but respect for you, I hope it does not appear as if I am looking a gift horse in the mouth, and if it does, I give my humblest apology.

Hiya - all our newest fonts are included in the All Fonts Pack license, although the AFP download itself may not have yet been updated to include them. By all means download those newer fonts from FontSpace or DaFont and use them in the same commercial ways, regardless of when you purchased AFP!
(We generally save the AFP  download updates for several fonts in a row due to our frequent releases of new ones)

Newest fonts we have made that were released since AFP but are still licensed by it: Moustache You; Half Myself; Manic Germanic; Swansong; Blaze of Glory; Spirit Fox; Spiced Rum Supernova; Tiny and Chunky; Punk Metal; The Visitor; Devious Road; Robinson Pleasure; Cynosure; Liquid Crystal Decay; Overthrow Oligarchy; Guardian Angle; Nuchileda; CI GameDev 16px; Tempter; Bees Chubees; Infinitely Grateful; Riot City Revolts!.

(+2)

Do these fonts support umlauts (ä, ö, ü) and ß? Those are very common characters in the german language.

(+3)

Some of our fonts do, some don't. If you go to our dafont profile with accents turned on & preview set to show the umlauts you can get a list of the fonts from the pack that support them: https://www.dafont.com/chequered-ink.d6231?text=%E4%F6%FC%DF&a=on

This link will show all the fonts that support those characters to varying degrees.

(+2)

Great font pack, I appreciate the organization! I used the HandyWesternSerif font to recreate a gag gift sign:

The one point I noticed with this is that the font doesn’t have ' characters, so I had to modify the ,

(+2)

Ah thank you so much, it's funny to see what you made with it. This font is one of our earlier ones, I didn't realise it was missing the ' character to be honest! I will add that to our list of things to update, thanks for letting me know.

This is a fantastic pack! I love the variety! Just to be extra sure about this: I do book cover commissions, would using these fonts on a book cover intended for someone else be permissible?

I wasn't concerned with books covers I make for myself, but since book covers for others ultimately make the person I make the cover for money for a longer period than me, I wanted to double-check that.

(Also, it would be nice to have some cursive/script fonts, just as a suggestion!)

(+2)

Hi there, thank you for the kind words! Yes you can use them for commissions - as long as the graphics you make for the client are hard-baked when you hand them over (as in, they wont have access to the ttf or otf file of the font.)

Thank you for the suggestion of extra content too - we'll take that on board since we're always adding new fonts to the pack :)

I missed the deal :(

(+1)

We're always looking to make our stuff accessible to more people, follow us on Blue Sky for any updates of deals we might have in future.

oh man I just found out about this and missed out in the time it took to remember my password, I guess I'll have to look out for next time

(+1)

follow us on BlueSky (or Facebook, or Patreon or wherever you follow people) as we will post about any future deals there :)

So, I just found out about this, and I'm not sure I can swing it before the deadline. Can you say if it'll be made available at this deep of a discount again in the future? 😭

(+1)

We are always looking for ways to make our stuff accessible to as many people as possible - and we have run this discount before.

My advice would be to follow us on BlueSky (or Facebook, or Patreon or wherever you follow people) as we will post about any future deals there :)

the section in the terms of use that states ...
"You are hereby granted a non-exclusive, non-assignable, non-transferable license to access the Product (i) only in up to 5 (Five) Licensed Units, (ii) for Personal, Non-Commercial Use and Commercial Use"

I'm not sure if im reading this properly does this mean you can only use it in up to 5 Projects per purchase? or is this referring to you can only download and access it on up to 5 Devices per purchase?

(+1)

The second one - it means you can download and install the font pack itself on up to 5 PCs / Macs / Whatever at the same time.

You can use the font in as many end creations as you want (so make an unlimited number of games, etc. with them)

(+2)

Found through word of mouth, impressed by font selection, but purchased based on your amazing comments and replies to questions here.

Having purchased, I now am SO excited and grateful that you sorted all the fonts into genre and style folders!!!! This made me so happy. Thank you.

(+2)

Thank you! We're always happy to answer any questions people have. It's nice to have people talking about things we've made :D

We hope you enjoy the fonts and put them to good use :)

Hello, I have a question about the licence. "The Product is protected from extraction by the end user so that they may not access the Product on its own outside of your application. ", I make Renpy games, so I can technically protect the font (as in someone downloading the game can't have access to it), but let's be honest Renpy games are super easy to pirate. I feel like every game is possible to pirate in their own way, but I would like to double check if it's okay before I make the purchase.

Anyway, amazing work

(+3)

As long as you're not openly sharing the font file itself you're all good. We recognise that bundling a font within a game or a website etc. means it's technically possible for someone to download it still. That part of the terms is more like "do your best to prevent them using it as their own font".

Thanks for answering me and for being practical about it <3

(+3)

Dang that is so many fonts. Thank you for your work!

I do Mork Borg style ttrpgs and my font rotation has been getting a bit static. 1200 fonts for 19 is a rate I can afford as an indie designer and adds a lot more visual variety.

(+3)

Thanks, we'd love to see what you make with them :)

(+3)

I'll let you know! Should be a couple weeks before my next one-of-every-font type project is ready, but I've got a couple in the pipeline.

(+3)

What an incredible deal! Before I snap it up, though, could I ask a clarifying question? Apologies if it's a dumb question, just want to triple check!

Could I use these fonts as part of a tabletop roleplaying game book (including both in PDF and print form)? Not 100% sure if that is covered under the "digital document"/"visual media" criteria of the commerical license.

Thanks!

(+4)

Yes absolutely! Tbh you can do most things with them as long as you're not A) redistributing the font on its own to other people, B) using them to train AI.

The uses you described are perfectly fine!

(+1)

Amazing, thanks for getting back to me so quick. And no, you can be sure I won't be doing either of those things! Thanks again, now I'm off to grab these fonts and spread the word! haha

(+1)

I use RPGmaker to make commercial games, but RPGmaker can't hide the font files, should someone decide to look through the steam folders. Does that go against the terms?

(+3)

No it's OK, you can use them in RPG Maker games!

(+1)

Hello, there are a lot of very good fonts in this pack for sure, I will definitely use them in personal projects when I could :)

I would like to clarify some things regarding the license and latin accents, if I am wrong or have missed something, I apologize

Does the license allow to modify the font in some way to add (at least try) latin accents for fonts that don't have them

If it is possible and I understand it correctly, the ttf/odf file must not be modified:

- If the ttf/odf font is used in a program or a video game for example (in a hidden form), can providing accents via a background layer in the application while keeping the original font unchanged work?

- If the ttf/odf font is not used directly but in another form (font converted to bitmap, svg, etc), can the changes be included directly in the file?

- Also if one day I want to credit you (in the distant future, I manage to finish a project who knows), if I have made changes how should I proceed?

Thank you!

Sorry for my bad English

(+2)

Thank you for buying the font pack!

You can add latin accents to any of the fonts that don't have them yes - to be honest you can edit the .ttf or .otf file yourself if you want as long as you don't redistribute it afterwards.

You can definitely edit any version converted to bitmap too, since you might want to make logos with different styles and stuff, so editing the outline of the font in sprites and graphics is totally fine.

You don't need to credit us, but if you want to you can just write "Font by Chequered Ink" or something!

Finally, your English is fantastic no need to apologise!

All the best,

Daniel

Thank you for your response, I am trying to improve with softwares help, it takes time :)

So to be sure that I have understood correctly :

- The modified ttf/odf file cannot be redistributed, so it cannot be used in a game if the game engine store it as is (the file will be there even if hidden/compressed in a package and could be potentialy extracted) or I am wrong and this is not considered as a redistribution of the file in this case

- Using a bitmap version (or SDF maybe?) of the modified font in a game is okay however

- In regard to redistribution I think the situation is the same on a website, the modified font can't be embedded (WOFF/WOFF2 format, easyly downloadable)

Am I right in each of these cases?

(+1)

The intention of the part about not redistributing is to say you shouldn't redistribute the font file to other people as just a font.

You can bundle the font in your game, or use it on your website, it doesn't matter to us if it's "technically" downloadable by a user who looks through your code as long as it's not there in plain sight to download as a font they can use.

So you can use it in games and as a webfont if you want.

(+1)

Okay I understand now, thanks to your precisions

Thank you very much for the time you took to answer my questions and for your awesome font pack of course :)

Hi, I have a small question about section 3 c i in the license agreement. I am developing a commercial game and am hoping to embed one of the fonts so in-game text, like dialogue, can be displayed with it.

The issue is that the game engine I use does not provide any encryption support by default, and all game assets can be accessed fairly easily by using a program like 7zip. Most of the time for me this is a positive, because it allows my players to easily mod the game if they desire. Unfortunately, the same methods that allow modding could theoretically allow a user to extract the fonts from the game. If I want to include the fonts in my games, will I need to encrypt my files in some way, or is just having them be hidden from the user by default enough of a protection?

(+2)

Just having them hidden from the user is enough to be honest! No method is going to be 100% extraction proof, but as long as you're making some effort to hide the font a bit it's fine.

(+1)

Hey, I've generated a set of preview images for each font with Imagemagick, would it be useful if I provided it to you're team so you could update the download? (Include a preview images folder)

Hey that sounds great! If you can email us at support@chequered.ink with the details we'd really appreciated it :) thank you so much.

(+1)

I've sent the images I generated and a follow up email with the batch file that I used with Image Magick.

(Image Magick has to be installed and added to your local paths for it to work)

Is there any way to find out which of these fonts support lowercase letters? I downloaded the whole pack but most of the fonts I want to use have no way to type in lowercase.

At the moment the best way I can recommend is to go to our Fontspace profile, which features all of our fonts, and change the preview text to a lowercase string like "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz". Then as you browse through the pages you'll see which ones have lowercase letters https://www.fontspace.com/chequered-ink

(+3)

this is INCREDIBLE i have so many FONTS i never have to worry about fonts or licensing AGAIN :D!! I got it when it was on a SUPER SALE, for $20, it was SO worth it.

As a disabled solo dev who has trouble finishing things (-sweeping all my WIPs under the rug-), this has saved me so much stress, effort, time, and MONEY.

(+1)

Thank you so much! It's lovely to know your story and we hope you enjoy using the fonts :) do feel free to message us in future to show us how you use them!

(+2)

I got this pack and its just awesome. Searching for fonts has always been tedious especially since you always have to keep licensing in mind. With this pack those worries are gone!

(+2)

Amazing font collection! Thanks for making this. Now I don't have to worry about looking for good fonts haha.

(+1)

I can't wait to play with these! Thank you so much!! :D

(+1)

What an absolutely insane deal, thank you so much! I lost a bunch of fonts during a hard drive reformat that I can't seem to find now, so I've needed a good font pack for a while. This really helps!

(+1)

Just purchased this and scanning over them, these are some pretty interesting fonts, and the price on the sale is just amazing, heck even at 190 that would be an affordable deal. I paid 20 bucks for a font from a user before so this was a no brainer.

(1 edit) (+1)

I pulled the trigger and bought this! I've been dabbling in creating shapes/designs through fonts (as in turning fonts to 90° or stacking letters on top of one another to create a unique shape for example), is it ok to actually create different shapes or designs just based off the font designs and still use them in projects both personally, commercially and with no limits? I'm nowhere near limits of that 2 Million Dollar cut off point, but I wanted to make sure that I can use and manipulate these fonts for future projects and clothing and other merchandise I have in mind to create.

Also, how should I credit your company in my products/projects for usage of the fonts as I want to be transparent and make sure I'm giving your company the credit and send people to your business for those who are interested in your fonts!

(+3)

Yes you can rearrange the fonts in your designs, add colors, change the look etc. without any problems. The revenue limit also applies only at time of purchase, so if your business grows you don't have to upgrade your license.

You don't need to credit us, but if you want to just "Fonts by Chequered Ink" or "[Font Name] by Chequered Ink" would be great! Thank you :)

(+2)

Just grabbed this! Really love some of these! I’m still going through them all and trying them but they’re great so far!

I was super excited to see non-pixel art fonts, Don’t get me wrong pixel art fonts are great, but they don’t fit every game style, if you’re doing a casual mobile game or something for example they don’t really fit that clean Vectorized look.

I’m glad to have these in my arsenal now!

(+1)

Thanks for buying and for the feedback! Yeah we've got some pixel art fonts in the pack, but otherwise many, many more in different styles. They don't just come in handy for in-game of course, but also for logos & stuff so even if the game is pixel art you might want the logo to be in a different style I guess!

(+2)

Thank you so much for putting this super pack of fonts together!  I saw it mentioned on Bluesky, bookmarked the checkout page and remembered to buy it today.  Can't wait to use 'em! :)

(+2)

Thank you! We really appreciate it and we hope you get some good use out of the fonts :)

Quick clarification if that's okay, the terms and agreements state "You are hereby granted a non-exclusive, non-assignable, non-transferable license to access the Product (i) only in up to 5 (Five) Licensed Units"
What's meant by 5 licenced units?

It means you can use the font file (.ttf, .otf) on up to 5 PCs / macs / whatever to make your designs.

(+2)

I'm very much far away from having 20 people/2,000,000 USD but what happens to the license if you buy this and then reach that?

(+5)

If you're currently nowhere near that kind of threshhold, don't sweat it - we won't be checking up on purchases down the line, you do not need to start tallying your earnings, you are just welcome to use the fonts forever.

All I can say is, if you remember us 10 years down the line when you're rich, a donation or just support of our other work will always be appreciated 😄

(+2)

Absolutely loved this pack! Is it okay to use fonts in the video editing, non-commercial or commercial (non-profit/small business)? Out of curiosity here.

Yes, both are permitted!

(+3)

I will never want for another font for as long as I'm a game designer. Seriously, this might be the single best purchase I've made in years.

(+1)

Okay, now I have no excuse to just own your entire catalog lol. Previously I'd been picking and choosing as I went along but now I'll just get the whole shebang.

Thank you for supporting us all this time anyway! We hope that having the whole pack for this price is a good reward 😅

(+1)

really awesome, thank you!

(+1)

Hi! This pack looks fantastic. As per your terms, would baking the fonts into a bitmap count as protected distribution?

(+2)

Yes, you can do that!

(+2)

There is some hot stuff here. I will definitely use some of these in future projects. Best wishes for next year

Thanks! :) Best wishes to you too

can i use this for logo making? :O

Yes you can!

(+1)

Awesome!! Can I use the fonts on a website?

(+1)

Yes, the font pack doesn't come with webfonts but you can convert them to the right format if you want.

Great, thank you! Just double checking, that doesn’t conflict with the “web server” portion of the license?

(+2)

It's all good, no conflict. You can use it!
