8-bit Adventure Pack
A downloadable asset pack
Over 1,400 sprites for use in your top-down adventure games, with a tile size of 16 x 16 and a limited retro color palette for that authentic feel.
This pack was originally designed for a game about the Aztec princess Papantzin, who would go on a quest to calm various Aztec deities who had become angered (hence the theme of some of the characters and enemies).
We made every graphic you would ever need to finish a game of this type... and then decided to release it for you to use in your own projects instead!
Here's everything that's in the pack:
Tile Sets
- 333 overworld tiles, including meadows, forests, deserts, beaches, mountains and towns.
- 323 indoor tiles, including houses, dungeons, caves and castles.
- 12 animated tiles for moving grass and water.
Characters
- Main hero character Papantzin with 107 different poses.
- 35 enemies including slimes, skeletons, spiders, bombs, beetles and more.
- 35 NPCs with 346 animation frames including templates to make your own.
- 5 bosses based on Aztec deities.
- 7 Animals including Alpaca, Axolotl, Butterfly, Coati, Pigeons, Rabbits and Robins.
Other Stuff
- 17 items including weapons, potions and other trinkets.
- Effects like explosions, musical notes and shadows.
- Interactive elements like switches, blocks and teleporters.
- 9-slice UI box and health bar
- Bonus HD art of the island we designed for the original game + the main character
We can't wait to see you using the sprites in your own projects!
The pack is 100% free, but any payments & tips are gratefully accepted 😊

This pack is absolutely fantastic and exactly what I have been looking for. I've been making a game for months, doing all the coding and getting all the mechanics working but I'm no good at graphics so I will be using these in my game. This is the answer to my prayers right here. Thank you so much for offering these up for free. When I have the money I will make a donation and you will definitely get a mention in my game when it is (eventually) released on Steam. Can I ask why did you eventually decide not to make the game with these? - Not to worry, you're hard work is about to come to life in my epic adventure game :)
Thank you so much it's great to hear that and we'd love to see your game when it's done! Please stay in touch with us and show us the game, if you have a bluesky account or a mailing list do let us know so we can follow you.
We had the game all planned out, and we had a lot of fun making all the graphics (we did them before even doing any code)... but adventure games of this scale take a long time to make as I'm sure you know from making your own! So we had to move on to other work to keep money coming in, and never got back to working on this one project.
Nowadays we're heading in a direction where we're making lots of free game assets, so it seemed right to post these and hope that someone like you would make a wonderful new game with them :)
Hi this may sound silly and I'm probably just not seeing it, but any chance you could post an image of a dungeon mock-up using these tiles? I've tried a number of tile combinations and can't seem to find a combination that looks like a dungeon. Maybe I've just been working too long and hard recently lol. Thanks.
I just whipped this up quickly in GameMaker. The Indoor tiles have various dungeon-like walls and floors - and I've thrown the player sprite and a couple of enemies on there too.
Excellent. Thank you so much. I really appreciate the help.
I'm like this gbc zelda style
Thanks, we like it too!
Amazing!
Thank you :)
The work that went in to this is insane props to you
thank you :)
Whoa this is… amazing. So much work and for free too.
Thanks, hope you enjoy!
So cool!
Thanks :)
